Even the most dedicated practitioners can experience discouragement, chronic fatiguedisengagement and burn out. With self-awareness and proactive effort, however, burnout is not inevitable. In this module, OTs will learn how to distinguish between compassion fatigue and burnout and develop strategies for staving them off.
The goal of this program is to support occupational therapists to achieve goals for reducing compassion fatigue and burnout. After you study the information presented here, you will be able to —
- Assess and evaluate compassion fatigue in day–to–day practice.
- Develop and apply proactive strategies for staving off burnout
- Distinguish between compassion fatigue and burnout and their contributing factors.
